WELCOME, TO HANNA's BLOG
This is pretty much where i express myself via my creative writing moments, or through my drawings, life's adversities and the occasional rant on mindless issues.
It gets quite boring if you don't like reading self autobiographies by certain 15 year olds.
So if you prefer to read something else, you get a chance to close the screen and go read something else.
Hate it or Love it just Enjoy it.
Dear Organiser:
Increasingly, computers have been posterior in the average everyday classroom setting. Despite it however not being unnoticed, more and more of our daily tasks, are done in some way or another by the incorporation of a computerised software. In many ways, we benefit from it. In modern education, we use the computers, internet and software to equip the current generation, to broaden the child’s knowledge on presentational, research alongside problem solving tasks and also to prepare the children for the world that they will one day live in and succeed using their skills from using the computer. A computer, a surrogate classroom assistant.
We could say that the technological change is moving at a very fast pace. But could we also say that it is slowing down a child’s ability to learn to do things manually and not rely on software or computerised means of calculation or grammar checks? The debate however, continues. In school, most of the time we have been taught to incorporate our daily tasks, may it be presenting work or making a music score sheet, a computer is needed alongside its many functions. Have we moved on from the old scheme of things and moved the blackboards and whiteboards for interactive touch screens and the fast use of the internet. The answer is yes.For example, In a typical Electronics class, Circuit Wizard is used instead of manually drawing a circuit and presenting it on line paper. Circuit Wizard, is a new system that combines circuit designing alongside stimulations assists students in their manufacturing of their circuits. Circuit Wizard in turn provides all the necessary tools needed to create the virtual stimulation of the circuit. It is fairly easy to use and the layout of the software is not complicated to understand and get used to. However, it is not personalized to everyone’s standards. Though students can work individually on this circuit, it does not benefit those who find using circuit wizard extremely difficult as there is only one standard level which is undefined. However in Art, we occasionally use Adobe Photoshop CS3 to which i personally found very useful and very manageable because of the extra points and tips alongside the screen. Adobe Photoshop is a professional editing software that manipulates images and it lets the user to manipulate or enhance the images in any way or form that they choose. Mainly it is used as a personal piece of editing but however in Art, editing images is taken seriously because it could be used in a job one day. This software teaches users, how to revolve around editing images professionally. To which many find extremely educational. There are many other types of software that we use, all varied and the majority of them are user personalized so it would work with whatever condition that person has or not.
The benefits of personalized learning would be that it teaches young people to perform tasks which then could be applied throughout his or her lifetime. It also assists pupils with their work presentational skills for example using software such as Audacity or Sony Vegas Pro to create a movie of some sort and the user may benefit by having extra effects on his or her presentation that some other pupils might not have learnt to use or has edited their movie in a way that it is deemed to be professional. Calculations and Grammatical errors would be fixed automatically and it would save our time and efforts instead of working it out again and again on paper. Despite the many ways personalized learning helps, there too are many disadvantages. Communication problems arise where students wouldn’t be able to communicate as deeply as they ought to because standardized texts and tools such as spellcheckers and grammar checkers wouldn’t help them in identifying the cause of their mistake. More or less it is like dismissing a bulb which has gone out but has an equipped power battery that it turns on itself and that you haven’t noticed anything. But personally i believe it does help as it collaborate the need of learning with simple solutions such as formulating equations, organizing information and proofreading.A question of why use a computer arises. What makes learners prefer using the computer to study rather than listen to teachers fro some topics?. Well, for one, learning from a computer means that the person would be able to work at their own pace and that if they see fit to move on or go back they can do so freely without interrupting a teacher. Usually learning from computer software gives out a sense of establishment only known to ourselves. Rewards are given out which aren’t normally done in classroom environments provoke learners to learn on their own software. Usually there would also be online certificates which are print ready to certify whether you have achieved a particular subject unlike in class where sometimes your work seems to be treated like nothing else. However there are many downfalls with learning on a learners own self because for one, the learner is learning without the help of a teacher and if they had more broad questions that they wish to question, the could not answer the software back. Despite learning at a person’s own pace this could lead to laziness and also the slacking of time management and also the slacking of interest in that particular subject. Motivation from teachers is mostly needed and wanted when wanting to pursue a subject to ensure a students need to learn is prolonged.
If the matter of having computer aided learning the only option for learning in the nearest future then this would not be particularly mean the end to socialising with friends and alongside having social interactions from teachers and parents and change of scenery. But it would benefit cost wise where the students would not have to pay for anything. To not have to pay for canteen, transport and uniform costs would benefit parents a lot. I however would like to stress that this is not adequate and is not healthy for a growing child because he or she would need to learn how to interact with people and learn how to deal with the many experiences school brings. Not only about the schoolwork and learning, but the part of making friends and learning how to deal with different situations. However if the aim was to be set upon people who are not in their high school years and wanting to learn individually and at their own pace, than I do not subject to that matter whatsoever because it would benefit for example a mother of four children who doesn’t have time to go out and study at a university but prefers studying at home
